Why Savinho may find himself in the same boat as Andy Robertson at Tottenham

As Savinho edges closer to a move to Tottenham, there is one compromise he may have to make at the North London club.

Vinai Venkatesham admitted that Tottenham need to change the way they operate in the transfer window, and early signs suggest the club are certainly doing that.

Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have reportedly agreed contracts with Spurs, while we have heard over the last 24 hours that the Lilywhites are also locked in negotiations over Brighton’s Jan Paul Van Hecke.

Tottenham have also made significant progress in their pursuit of Savinho as they look to beef up their forward line.

Talks are continuing between Man City and Spurs over the Brazilian, but he will have to make a compromise if he does complete a move to N17.

Savinho will not be wearing his favourite number at Tottenham

Savinho has worn number 26 throughout his time at Manchester City so far, but he will not have access to that number at Spurs.

This is because Tottenham have retired the number in honour of one of the club’s biggest modern-day legends, Ledley King, who wore number 26 throughout his time at the club.

It is unlikely that the Lilywhites will consider unretiring that number, which means that the Brazilian may have to opt for another number.

Savinho wore number 16 during his time at Girona, which is currently held by Luka Vuskovic at Spurs. It could become available if the Croat heads out on loan again next season.

23/24 Girona FC 16

Will Savinho improve Spurs’ attack significantly?

The jury is out on whether Savinho would significantly strengthen Tottenham’s starting eleven, but there is no doubt that his addition will boost the squad.

The Man City winger’s profile is not one that Spurs have an abundance of at the moment, given the 22-year-old’s tendency to be aggressive and take on the full-back.

De Zerbi may feel he can get the best out of the Brazil international, who undoubtedly possesses a lot of raw talent on the ball.
