Just when Liverpool fans thought the Jurgen Klopp to Real Madrid speculation has died down, Fabrizio Romano has now come out with a new update.
Enrique Riquelme, a wealthy businessman and lifelong Madridista, is running against Florentino Perez in the upcoming Real Madrid presidential elections.
It was previously reported in Spanish media that Riquelme was in talks with the Liverpool legend around taking over at the Bernabéu.
Now Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, has revealed that Riquelme will soon announce that he wants to bring Jurgen Klopp as his new Real Madrid manager should he win the presidential elections slated for this coming Sunday:
“Enrique Riquelme will soon announce the new manager he wants… and again sources tell me that should be Jurgen Klopp,” the Italian transfer guru stated.
“For Floretino Perez it’s Jose Mourinho, already official. Sources in the industry mention Jurgen Klopp as the potential candidate mentioned by Enrique Riquelme.”
“But then it will be him to tell Real Madrid fans his strategy, his names and so on. Let’s wait for that,” explained Romano.
Even if Riquelme does publicly name Klopp as his preferred manager, a lot still has to happen before any move could become realistic.
Klopp would first need to be genuinely open to returning to management and, more specifically, to taking the Real Madrid job after only recently stepping away from the intensity of life at Liverpool.
