3 ideal Real Madrid swaps as Enzo Fernandez deadline approaches

It's possible Enzo Fernandez has already played his last game for Chelsea.

The Argentine has flirted with the prospect of joining Real Madrid for several months, and although Chelsea want £120 million for him, there is a chance the midfielder leaves Stamford Bridge this summer.

Currently away with Argentina at the 2026 World Cup in North America, Fernandez wants his future decided before the tournament kicks off in one weeks' time.

Amid the uncertainty surrounding the 25-year-old's future in west London, particularly with his links to Real Madrid, Pride of London have taken a look at which three players Los Blancos could offer in exchange to help offset some of Chelsea's huge price tag.

Aurelien Tchouameni

If Chelsea are genuinely considering selling Fernandez, then replacing him with Aurelien Tchouameni would certainly soften the blow.

The French international has already established himself as one of Europe's best defensive midfielders and would bring the physicality, athleticism and a much-needed disciplinary improvement.

The 24-year-old is not yet in his prime and has already won major honours with both Real Madrid and France. He is also be a realistic target if Madrid were open to negotiations, having already been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

Tchouameni's ability to protect the defence while allowing others more freedom could not only make him a great player to work alongside Caicedo, but also the perfect fit for Xabi Alonso's system ahead of his first season in charge.

Eduardo Camavinga

Eduardo Camavinga would be another player Chelsea could receive in exchange for Fernandez.

The Frenchman is already among the world's most talented young midfielders and can operate as a holding midfielder, central midfielder or even at left-back, giving the Blues versatility and flexibility.

Although the 23-year-old has been decent at times during his first five years at the Santiago Bernabeu, injuries and competition for places have limited his development.

As a result, this summer just feels like it could be the right time for the former Stade Renne man to move on.

Antonio Rudiger

A potential return for Antonio Rudiger could be an under-the-radar deal, but perhaps also the most practical one.

Chelsea's defence desperately needs leadership, experience and personality, all qualities Rudiger possesses. Of course, we know this following the German's five hugely successful years at Stamford Bridge between 2017 and 2022 where he made 203 appearances on the way to the club winning multiple major honours, including the 2020-21 Champions League.

Even at 33, Rudiger, who is a free-agent and preparing for his third World Cup with Germany, remains one of Europe's most dominant centre-backs and would immediately become a leader inside the dressing room.

For a squad lacking experienced winners, a return for Rudiger would certainly help settles things, even if it would be on a short term basis.
