“The Injury Was Non-Contact”: Detroit Lions Fans React to Devastating News About Star Playmaker …

The Detroit Lions finished with a 9-8 record last season. Over the last few seasons, Detroit has drafted very well. In the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Lions selected wide receiver Kendrick Law from the Kentucky Wildcats. Detroit was going to give him a serious look during training camp and a good chance to make the roster in 2026.

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff (16) practices a drill during OTAs at Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park on Friday, May 29, 2026.

When he was with Kentucky last season, Law caught 53 passes for 540 yards receiving and three touchdowns, along with averaging 10.2 yards per reception. Well, Ari Meirov reported on his Twitter page about the Lions rookie wide receiver, “#Lions 5th-round WR Kendrick Law suffered a torn ACL in practice this week and will miss the entire 2026 NFL season. The injury was non-contact.” With him missing the entire season, this is not good news for him or the Lions.

A lot of Detroit fans are sad to see that Law has suffered a season-ending torn ACL injury. This is what Lions fans had to say about the injury on Twitter:

the lions might be the unluckiest team of all time when it comes to injuries

Brother there has to be some curse for the Lions with injury luck

Nice pick Brad. Shouldn’t have drafted him in the first place. We have our WR’s

Heartbreaking. A rookie season lost before it started. The Lions need to support him fully, he’ll come back stronger.

Grass or turf?

It would have been interesting to see what Law would have done in training camp and preseason if he didn’t tear his ACL. With that being said, Detroit’s starting wide receivers will be Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Isaac TeSlaa. The Lions have been known for finding gems in the later rounds lately with Brad Holmes as the general manager. It’s sad to see that Law’s 2026 NFL season is already over here.
