A fan looking to snap an on-court selfie with San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama during Game 1 of the NBA Finals will never get to see an NBA game in person ever again.
On Wednesday night, the Spurs and New York Knicks delivered an exciting opening game in the 2026 NBA Finals. The champions from their respective conferences went back and forth all night, threw some big power shots at each other, and the game was still up for grabs heading into the final minutes.
Fans also delivered last night as both Spurs and Knicks fans were loudly heard throughout the game. However, a pair of Spurs supporters earned an unenviable achievement during the fourth quarter of Game 1. An unknown man ran onto the court during the fourth to try to take a selfie with Wembanyama and was quickly escorted off the court and out of the arena.
NBA fan gets lifetime ban for on-court antics during Game 1 of NBA Finals
Well, it will be his and an associate’s last time in Frost Bank Center, or any other arena where an NBA game is held. “The individual who entered the court area during Game 1 of The Finals was arrested & will be banned for life from all NBA arenas. A second individual will also receive a lifetime ban for his role in the incident,” an NBA spokesperson told the Associated Press’ Tim Reynolds.
The man caused a stop to the game and was able to get way too close to the Spurs superstar. Fortunately, he was just looking for a picture and 15 minutes of fame and did not have malicious intentions. Nevertheless, certain members of the team’s security staff are sure to get a lifetime ban from Frost Bank via a firing this week.
