Despite being linked with a move back to Spain, Marc Cucurella has refused to give much away on his immediate future at Chelsea.
Marc Cucurella was one of the bright sparks for Chelsea this season, despite struggling towards the end of the campaign. His consistency at left-back has firmly restored his status as one of Europe’s best full-backs, which has inadvertently sparked transfer speculation ahead of the summer window.
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have all been linked with a move for Cucurella.
For now, however, the 27-year-old’s immediate focus is completely occupied by international duty after being named in Luis de la Fuente’s 26-man Spain squad for the World Cup.

Marc Cucurella says his family are all Barcelona fans
Marc Cucurella reviewed his career in the podcast ‘The star that unites us’, produced by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (as per Sport).
“I had doubts about going to Barca. I was comfortable at Espanyol; I had been there for many years and I don’t like this change very much.
“My family has always been Barca fans and I went to the stadium with my grandfather, but I left many friends at Espanyol. I felt bad about leaving, although for my future it was an important step. When they lost the UEFA final in 2007, I remember crying, being sad. I left a lot of friends at Espanyol. It tasted bad to me, but for my future it was a step. I am fond of him.
“In Spain, I was stagnating. They put me inside or on the winger and I felt that I didn’t quite explode. My agents told me that as a full-back I could go much further and they were right.”

How does Marc Cucurella feel about his Chelsea future?
Marc Cucurella supposedly wants to leave Chelsea this summer after a disappointing campaign.
The rapid development of Jorrel Hato is one of the factors why the club has not deemed Cucurella as an ‘untouchable’ in the market in this window.
So we may see some movement once the World Cup is over, especially as Chelsea could do with some funds to help boost Xabi Alonso’s transfer kitty.
