Report: Steelers Signing LB Jamin Davis To One-Year Deal

After signing Robert Tonyan earlier today, the Pittsburgh Steelers are making another move. Via Steelers reporter Brooke Pryor on X, Pittsburgh is signing LB Jamin Davis to a one-year contract.

Like Tonyan, Davis was invited to minicamp to tryout for the team. Davis had a lot of potential coming into the league, selected by Washington in the first-round back in 2021. He held a big role early in his career, starting eight games in his rookie season, 15 in his second year, and 13 in his third year.

His second season in 2022 was the most productive of his career. That year, Davis finished with just over 100 tackles, nine of them coming for a loss, and added three sacks as well.

He had a similarly productive year in 2023, but ended up being released by Washington during the 2024 season. Jamin Davis then latched on in Minnesota afterwards, appearing in four games that year and recording one sack, with five tackles and one tackle for a loss.

It’s not too surprising that Davis found a home with Pittsburgh, since he does have some familiarity with Patrick Graham. Davis played in Las Vegas under Graham in 2025. It wasn’t a major role, appearing in two games while starting one of them. Throughout his five year career, Davis has appeared in 57 total games, and has eight career sacks, 290 tackles with 22 of them coming for a loss.

As a former first-round pick, Davis has some desirable traits. At his Pro Day back in 2021, he ran a 4.48-second 40-yard dash, had a 42″ vertical jump, an 11’0″ broad jump, and put up 21 reps on the bench press.

Davis was drafted as an off-ball linebacker, but has spent time on the edge during his career. But most of his success in the league has come as an off-ball linebacker, which is a spot he could look to earn on the current Steelers’ roster.

If Jamin Davis can find his way onto the 53-man roster, he’ll represent a depth piece with some intriguing upside. He doesn’t have a ton of experience with Graham, but there is some level of familiarity. Although he hasn’t made a sizeable impact in the league in recent years, he’ll hope to carve out a role in Pittsburgh this season.
