Myles Garrett is officially the newest addition to the Los Angeles Rams. He was traded from the Cleveland Browns after a 2025 season which saw him set a new NFL single-season record with 23 sacks for his team.
Being one of the best defensive players in the league, he is expected to elevate the Rams’ defense and many believe he can help them to challenge for the Super Bowl strongly. One opposition head coach has given his thoughts on the matter.
Dan Campbell jokes Rams have won championship after Myles Garrett trade
Garrett has been traded to the Rams on June 1, 2026, after nine years with the Browns. In return, Jared Verse will be joining the Browns, along with a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick. Garrett is a defensive star, and was Defensive Player of the Year award two times in 2023 and 2025.

He is very highly rated, and his trade to the Rams is being thought of as one of the best trade deals in the history of the league. It has caught the attention of every other team in the league as well, with the Rams becoming a team capable of winning the Super Bowl. Even Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is impressed with it.
During a press conference on June 4, 2026, Campbell was asked about his reaction to the trade. He said, “Good for them. They’ve won it now, right?” While it seemed that he was genuinely impressed, it was actually a sarcastic response. However, he added that he was impressed with the trade, “Honestly, I had none. He’s a helluva player. Verse is a helluva player, and they’re two totally different players. That was what they felt like they needed to do, and good for them.”
While there is no doubt the Rams have been strengthened by Garrett’s addition, there is still a lot of work needed by the Rams to become worthy of the Super Bowl. Aside from Campbell, many others have also commented on the trade.
49ers coach responds to Myles Garrett trade
San Francisco 49ers offensive line coach Chris Foerster also gave a unique response when asked about Garrett’s addition to the Rams. As the team is a direct NFC West division rival, he admitted it makes his job harder. When asked whether he had to review his tapes after the news, he said, “I sure did.” He also added that he was caught by surprise, “I just wanted to remind myself because it kind of came out of left field.”
49ers left tackle Trent Williams also said, “It sucks.” Many others have also commented similar opinions, and it does seem like the Rams have managed to surprise their opponents ahead of the next season.
Myles Garrett will have to prepare for the 2026 NFL season as the Los Angeles Rams will try to challenge for the Super Bowl.
