Boston Celtics assistant coach Tony Dobbins was named among the "hottest first-time NBA head-coaching candidates" in April.
With the Dallas Mavericks recently letting go of head coach Jason Kidd, NBA insider Marc Stein reported Thursday that Dobbins is expected to interview for the lead gig.
Dobbins just finished his sixth season as an assistant in Boston and has been with the Celtics since 2017.
The 44-year-old served as the team's Summer League head coach in 2023.
Dobbins is among a slew of candidates scheduled to interview with the Mavericks, a group that also includes Houston Rockets assistant Royal Ivey, Miami Heat consultant Noah LaRoche, Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori and Toronto Raptors assistant Jama Mahlalela.
