Andoni Iraola has been named as the new head coach at Liverpoool.
The former Bournemouth manager had been strongly favoured to take over at Anfield ever since Arne Slot was sacked last week, and the appointment was made official on Friday morning AEST.
“You don’t need a lot of things to get attracted by Liverpool. Liverpool is Liverpool,” Iraola told the club’s website.
“Obviously when you arrive at a place, you cannot promise everything. You cannot promise. But it’s true that I understand where I’m coming and what is expected.
“I’m ready for the challenge.”
It will be fascinating to see how many changes he makes to a squad that already had a significant overhaul ahead of last season, but now has to find a replacement for club legend Mohamed Salah.
