TOMCZAK IMPRESSED BY WILL HOWARD
Will Howard has been generating a lot of buzz this offseason. While the Steelers re-signed Aaron Rodgers, delaying Howard’s shot at starting, the team has still praised the young quarterback a lot.
He could be in the mix to be the Steelers’ starter next year. Former Steelers quarterback Mike Tomczak seems to believe in Howard.
Tomczak played for the Steelers from 1993-99, and like Howard, he also wore No. 18. He took to Twitter to endorse Howard wearing his number, too. It looks like he recently took a trip to watch the Steelers practice and got to meet Howard. It seems like Tomczak was impressed with the young signal caller, much like many others have been this offseason.

FORMER PLAYERS AT STEELERS PRACTICE
While June tends to be a quiet time in the NFL, teams are still getting work done. The Steelers participated in mandatory minicamp this week. That’s not quite as intense as training camp, but it still helps set the foundation for the upcoming season.
Despite getting that work in, the Steelers recently invited many former players to attend one of their practices this week. Steelers History posted a photo on Twitter showing the group alongside head coach Mike McCarthy. While McCarthy is new to the Steelers, he’s from Pittsburgh, so it must feel nice for him to see so many players return to support the team.
PORTER TO PLAY IN CELEBRITY BASKETBALL GAME
The Steelers have handed out a few contract extensions this offseason, most recently getting deals done with Nick Herbig and Darnell Washington. However, they still have some players waiting to get extensions. That includes Joey Porter Jr., who is likely seeking top corner money. Porter will be with another corner seeking a contract extension this weekend, too.
He’ll be participating in New England Patriots corner Christian Gonzalez’s celebrity basketball game on Saturday, per Carlos A. Lopez on Twitter. The two were part of the same draft class, although Gonzalez was a first-round pick, so the Patriots could add an extra year to his contract. Still, they both figure to earn big paydays in the near future, being among the NFL’s best young corners.
Christian Gonzalez announced the roster for his celebrity basketball game this weekend 🔥#Patriots WR A.J. Brown, Eagles WR DeVonta Smith, and Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. are among those who will attend.
