Buffalo Wild Wings receives backlash for offering Spurs fan who stormed court free food

Buffalo Wild Wings is under fire after they offered the San Antonio Spurs fan who ran onto the court during Game 1 of the New York Knicks and Spurs NBA Finals free food.

On Wednesday, June 3 the Spurs fan attempted to get a selfie with Victor Wembanyama during the fourth quarter and was escorted off the court by security. The following day, the popular wing chain shared that they will offer the Spurs fan free food after they were banned from NBA games in the future.

“internet, help us find the banned fan. he can watch the rest of the finals at B-Dubs on us,” Buffalo Wild Wings wrote on X.

Their gesture did not go over well with NBA fans, who called the franchise careless for condoning the behavior of the Spurs fan.

“Holy L. Why would we reward this guy?” one fan asked.

“Yeah let’s reward a loser interrupting game 1 of the nba finals,” another fan wrote.

Another fan suggested that the social team might be in trouble with their own higher-ups for the X post, “Marketing guy is not going to have a good time when HR sees this tweet.”

In addition to being banned from NBA games, its possible that the fan might face criminal charges.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office told TMZ there will be two charges for the fan. The first charge, “Disrupting Meeting or Procession, was committed by “intentionally disrupting a lawful gathering, namely, the Spurs basketball game, through physical interference.”

The second charge, “Criminal Trespass, was committed by “entering property, specifically the basketball court, without the effective consent of the owner, despite having notice that entry onto the court was prohibited,” the statement continued.

The statement added, “The entry was made by the intrusion of his entire body into the restricted area.”

Wembanyama reacted to the Spurs fan's disruption postgame, “I've never been in that situation. I didn't know how to act. It really surprised almost as much as that time where a bat crashed the court.”

Even with going through all that trouble and facing the consequences from the NBA — and possibly the law — the fan did not even get a photo with the Spurs star. Take a look at the footage from the point of view of the fan below:
