The latest Premier League transfer news involving Newcastle, Chelsea, Man United, Arsenal and more
The summer transfer window hasn’t even opened yet, and Premier League clubs are already working frantically behind the scenes to get their business done early. Manchester United have all but signed Atalanta midfielder Ederson, Manchester City are closing in on Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, and Spurs are going all out to sign Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke.

Clubs are looking to do their business earlier than usual, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup likely to disrupt the early stages of the transfer window. International players will largely be focused on their efforts in North America, meaning the clock is ticking for sides looking to get their most important deals set in stone before the big kick-off on June 11th.
We begin today’s round-up in west London, where Chelsea are looking to sign a new striker this summer. Liam ‘broke as many jaws as he scored Premier League goals’ Delap failed to cut the mustard in his first season at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues need to find some competition to challenge star man Joao Pedro for his starting spot.
Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is set to become available at the end of the month, once his contract with the Serie A giants expires. According to Team Talk, the Serbian striker has no intention of remaining in Turin, and “several” Premier League sides have reached out to his representatives to learn of his potential contract demands.
According to the report, Chelsea are “very much keen” to sign the 23-year-old, who scored ten goals in 23 games across all competitions for his club last season. It’s said that the Blues have a long-standing interest in the ex-Fiorentina forward, but face competition from Spurs, Newcastle, Man United, Aston Villa and Everton to sign him. Atletico Madrid are also said to hold an interest.
The 3AM Verdict: Vlahovic certainly isn’t the lethal force he was a few years ago, but still has an eye for goal and could thrive in the Premier League with his impressive physicality. Chelsea can’t offer any form of European football next season, but the allure of living in London can’t be dismissed, and neither can working under Xabi Alonso. If it comes down to Champions League football, however, Man United and Villa will be very much the front-runners.
Arsenal and Man United ‘offered’ £52m forward
Over to north London, where Arsenal dusted themselves down after a demoralising Champions League final defeat and lapped up the glory at their trophy parade for winning the Premier League title. They’re expected to be busy this summer and, according to Caught Offside, have been handed the chance to sign AC Milan forward Rafael Leao.
The story states that Arsenal and Man United have the chance to sign the Portugal international for around £52m, while Bayern Munich and Turkish giants Galatasaray are also thought to be in the mix. Refreshingly, the article goes on to dismiss suggestions that interest in Leao is high, and suggests that his asking price may have to be lowered for Premier League clubs to consider investing.
The 3AM Verdict:We covered apparent interest in Leao earlier this week, and were also rather sceptical about its legitimacy. He’s been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time, but at 26-years-old, he can no longer wear the enticing ‘promising young talent’ label he used to. At £52m, he’s a massive gamble not worth taking. £30m? Now that could be the sweet spot.
Newcastle ‘lead race’ to sign Nwaneri
We’ll round things off on Tyneside, where Newcastle United have some serious work to do in the summer window, after a frustrating 2025/26 season that saw the club fail to build on their Carabao Cup triumph the season before. The Alexander Isak transfer saga blighted their last summer window, and they’ll be looking for a much improved showing this time around.
According to Football Insider, the Magpies are the front-runners to sign Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri on loan, as the Gunners continue to mull over their plan for the youth academy product’s future. He spent the second half of last season on loan with Marseille, due to competition for first team opportunities remaining fierce at the Emirates Stadium.
The article says that Newcastle have had the “biggest, firmest discussions” when it comes to taking Nwaneri on loan, and that he’ll likely be handed a starring role at St. James’ Park. The 19-year-old, whose Arsenal contract runs through until 2030, is currently training with England to aid their preparations for the World Cup, which gets underway next week.
The 3AM Verdict: Before the season ended, there was speculation that Arsenal would look to cash in on Nwaneri to boost their PSR situation with a ‘pure profit’ academy player sell. It looks like they’ve now changed their mind, and that’s the right thing to do with plenty of time to decide on the player’s long-term future. Newcastle definitely need to freshen up their wing options, and Nwaneri could be the answer.
