According to WCNC Charlotte, the lawsuit alleges Ball severely injured an 11-year-old child’s foot while driving recklessly outside Spectrum Center after a Hornets event in 2023.

Ball has denied the allegations. His legal team is asking a judge to split the upcoming trial into phases, with the first phase determining liability, followed by separate phases for compensatory and punitive damages.

The trial is scheduled to begin the week of June 15.

The case comes months after Ball was involved in another driving-related incident, when he crossed the center line in his Hummer and struck an oncoming vehicle.
