Liverpool are now in"advanced talks"to sign player in Anfield reunion - journalist

Liverpool are in “advanced talks” to bring teenager Patrik Farkas back to the club, according to a new claim from journalist Bence Bocsak.

An exciting new era has started at Anfield, with Andoni Iraola unveiled as the Reds’ new head coach on Thursday, producing an impressive first interview, in which he said:

“Really excited, really excited, because obviously you know about Liverpool, you know that it’s a big club, a massive club, one of the biggest in the world. But feeling inside and understanding a little bit more of this club, I always thought it’s a special club.

“Not about the football side, also because what people think about even during the week, how they are passionate about the club and everyone, the ones who like football, the ones that probably are not as interested. But I have some experience with Athletic Club [as a player] that I could in some ways familiarise, but it’s going to be fun to experience it from the inside.”

Iraola will hopefully focus more on emerging young talent than Arne Slot did, with the latter receiving some criticism for not paying enough attention to Liverpool’s academy.

According to Bocsak on X, the Reds now look to be on the verge of bringing Farkas back to the club, four years after initially leaving:

“Understand Patrik Farkas is in advanced talks to join Liverpool. The 19-year-old would be returning to the club after leaving four years ago. He would become the 5th Hungarian on Liverpool’s books, alongside his brother Erik.”

Who is likely Liverpool signing Patrik Farkas?

Farkas may not be the proven experienced signing that Liverpool supporters want to see brought in this summer, but he is a big talent, and focusing on bringing in players with high ceilings is of the utmost importance.

The 19-year-old would be the latest Hungarian added to the Reds’ ranks, having won two caps apiece at international level for the Under-19s, Under-18s and Under-17s.

Farkas is a central midfielder, but his versatility also allows him to shine on both wings, and assuming the deal goes through, it will be interesting to see how his second stint at Liverpool pans out.

He has been at Blackburn Rovers and is now a free agent this summer, having previously played alongside Jayden Danns with the Reds in the past.
