Barcelona and Atletico Madrid appear to be heading towards one of the most intriguing transfer battles of the summer, with both clubs targeting several of the same high-profile players ahead of the new season.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the relationship between the two Spanish giants has become increasingly tense as they continue to compete for some of the most sought-after names in the market.
In that context, the latest developments involve Julian Alvarez, Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella, three players who are now on the radar of both clubs.
Sweating over three major transfer targets
Barcelona’s admiration for Alvarez is no secret, and recent reports suggest the Catalan club have already made a move worth €100 million in an attempt to bring him to Camp Nou.

In fact, as reported before, a meeting recently took place involving sporting director Deco and representatives of Alvarez.
The purpose of those talks was to explore the possibility of the Atletico Madrid forward eventually making the switch to Hansi Flick’s side.
While Atletico Madrid have publicly denied receiving such an offer, the report claims that Barcelona’s interest is genuine and that contacts have already been established regarding a future operation.
What about Bernardo and Cucurella?
Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva has also emerged as a player desired by both sides.
Atletico had been increasingly confident of securing the Manchester City midfielder, believing a deal was progressing in the right direction.

However, the situation appears to have shifted in recent days, as Barcelona have strengthened their position in the race, with the Portuguese international favouring a move to Camp Nou instead.
Furthermore, Marc Cucurella has become another shared objective. Atletico Madrid have tracked the Chelsea defender for some time, but Barcelona’s recent interest could complicate matters significantly.
Notably, the Cucurella situation is more complex because Barcelona would likely need defensive departures before making a serious move.
Even so, the opportunity to bring back a former La Masia player entering his prime years could be viewed as an attractive market opportunity.
