Alexander Isak started for Sweden in their 2-2 draw with Greece as part of their final warm‑up game ahead of the 2026 World Cup later this month.

Liverpool-supporting eyes were also on the visitors, with Kostas Tsimikas producing one of the standout moments of the night by firing Greece into an early 1-0 lead.

The left-back arrived on the edge of the box to meet a low cross and lashed a superb first-time finish.

Sweden, though, gradually grew into the contest. Graham Potter’s side responded after the break, with Viktor Gyökeres pulling them level through a freekick before substitute Gustaf Nilsson completed the turnaround to make it 2-1 and send the Solna crowd into full World Cup party mode.

Deep into stoppage time, however, Giorgos Masouras struck with virtually the last kick to rob Sweden of a morale-boosting win and leave the scoreline at 2-2.

That late blow means their only victories under Potter still come from the March play‑offs, but the performance at least offered signs of improved rhythm and fitness across the pitch. Isak was taken off at the 63rd minute.

Fotbollskanalen gave a 1/5 and wrote:

“He tried to drop deeper and get on the ball to make things happen himself, driving forward in possession, but the final product just wasn’t there. Sweden will need more from Isak at the World Cup.”

Maximilian Damm of Svenska Fans gave him a 2/5 and wrote:

“He’s been out injured for a while, but now looks ready to start at the tournament this summer. He had a nice effort early in the game and maybe should have made it 1–0. He’s going to be important for Sweden.”

Speaking after the game as quoted by the same publication, Isak said of his performance:

“Maybe I didn’t get to as many situations as I wanted, I had a few actions where you could create a lot more.

Attention now fully turns to the tournament in North America. Drawn in Group F, Sweden will kick off their World Cup campaign against Tunisia in Monterrey on June 15, a match they will be expected to take something from. Next up is a heavyweight clash with the Netherlands in Houston on June 20, before a potentially decisive final group fixture versus Japan in Dallas on June 26.
