Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi is reportedly leaning towards a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain, despite strong interest from Chelsea and several other European heavyweights monitoring his rapid rise.
The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young attackers, with his breakthrough campaign at the Vitality Stadium attracting attention across Europe.
Kroupi’s development has been closely followed by elite clubs after a season that saw him establish himself as a decisive presence in Bournemouth’s front line. His pace, technical ability and composure in the final third have made him one of the standout young forwards outside the traditional “big six,” and Bournemouth are now braced for a serious battle to retain him.
Reports suggest PSG have positioned themselves strongly in the race, with the Parisian club viewed as Kroupi’s preferred destination. A return to France appeals both on a personal and sporting level, with PSG able to offer Champions League football, a central role in a star-studded squad, and the opportunity to develop within a dominant domestic project.
CHELSEA, meanwhile, remain attentive but face growing uncertainty over whether they will pursue the deal aggressively. The London club have tracked Kroupi for some time, viewing him as part of their long-term recruitment strategy focused on elite young talent.
However, Bournemouth’s valuation is expected to be substantial, with figures potentially rising well beyond £70–80 million given his age, contract situation and Premier League adaptation.
Opinion: Do Chelsea actually need Kroupi?
From a squad-building perspective, Chelsea may not need to prioritise a move for Kroupi this summer. New boss Xabi Alonso already has a crowded pool of attacking options, with multiple young forwards competing for minutes and development pathways already under pressure.
The club’s biggest challenge in attack has often been consistency and cohesion rather than a lack of raw talent.
Adding another high-profile young forward could risk slowing the progression of existing players rather than solving a clear structural weakness. Chelsea’s more urgent needs arguably lie in experience, leadership, and stability in key defensive and midfield areas.
That said, Kroupi’s ceiling remains undeniable. If PSG do push ahead, CHELSEA may ultimately view this as a deal they can afford to miss rather than chase at all costs
