Lewis Koumas has been reflecting on playing his part in Hull City's promotion to the Premier League, as he looks forward to the next chapter in his fledgling career.

Koumas came off the bench to head in Wales' equaliser against Ghana on Tuesday night to cap what's been a busy period for the 20-year-old.

While he didn't get on the pitch at Wembley two Saturdays ago, his three goals during his loan spell at City from Liverpool were crucial in helping Sergej Jakirovic's side reach the play-offs, and then he enjoyed himself on the club's parade around the streets of Hull.

"It's one of the best days of my life for sure and memories that will stay with me forever," he told BBC Wales, before going on to talk about his overall development in the past couple of years.

"I'm really happy with the way my development's going. It's been a good two years. I think I've played nearly 110 games now, so I'm just really happy with how it's going and just excited for what's next."

Wales chief Craig Bellamy deployed Koumas as the number nine in the friendly with Ghana and believes the youngster can be a real potent threat up front, as he showed with his fine headed equaliser from Neco Williams' stoppage-time cross.

Koumas was full of praise for his international manager and is keen to learn from the former forward as he looks to make his mark again in Budapest on Saturday in their final friendly of the season against Romania.

"He's really, really supportive; he's a really good coach," Koumas added. "Ultimately, I like trying to see what I can take from his game and put it into mine because he was a top, top player, and he scored goals, and that's exactly what I want to do," he continued. "He's a great role model to work off and to be with him day-to-day here when I get called up to camp is a blessing."

The change in manager at Liverpool ensures there's an extra air of uncertainty with Andoni Iraola replacing Arne Slot, who was sacked last weekend, though Koumas is keen to keep his focus on his own business.

"I don't really think the plan changes for me. It's just going to be how it's always been, to just keep my head down, keep working hard, and if I impress, I impress. So let's see what happens."
