The New York Jets have signed a new pass catcher, a player who has been known as a tight end during his college and NFL career.
The Jets announced his signing as a wide receiver, though, when they brought aboard Gee Scott this week.
Scott takes the roster spot of WR Da'Quan Felton, who was waived earlier in the week.
He's a national champion from Ohio State who played TE for the Buckeyes.
After going undrafted in 2025, Scott sign with the New England Patriots. He then joined the Washington Commanders' practice squad late in the regular season.
Scott didn't get into an NFL regular season game as a rookie.

The 6-foot-2 Scott makes more sense as a TE than a WR, at least based on his combination of strength vs. speed.
He spent five seasons in Columbus developing as a tight end, so it'd be odd if the Jets thought he could be a wide receiver now -- but maybe if Scott changed his body enough, he could do it.
Coming out of college, he ran a 4.60-second 40-yard dash at Ohio State's Pro Day and had a 35-inch vertical jump.
In that national title season, Scott had 27 catches for 253 yards and two touchdowns.
Now, he'll try to prove himself to the Jets. He's going to have to block and catch passes to make the team no matter what position they call him.
