Russell Wilson Had Words for Patrick Mahomes After Retirement Message

Russell Wilson announced his retirement on Wednesday and received a lot ofcongratulatory messages on Instagram. Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes was among the former and current players from around the NFL who sent well wishes to Wilson following a successful 14-year career.

The quarterback finished his playing days as a 2014 Super Bowl champion, 2012 Rookie of the Year, 10-time Pro Bowler and two-time NFC champion, among other accolades. Wilson also earned a spot in the Seattle Seahawks’ Top 50 players and won the 2020 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award for his commitment to philanthropy.

He played for the Seahawks, Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants.He completed 3,951-of-6,120 passes for 46,966 yards, 353 touchdowns and 114 interceptions in 205 games. The Wisconsin product added 5,568 rushing yards and 31 scores.

Mahomes was one of many who congratulated Wilson on his retirement. The Chiefs QB kept it simple as he conveyed appreciation for what the 37-year-old accomplished.

“Congrats on a helluva career man!”Mahomes wrote.

Wilson replied, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to compete against the three-time Super Bowl champion.

“@patrickmahomes thanks 15. Love we got to share the field together! 🏆 Keep being an inspiration to the kids!” he responded.

Wilson will remain around football as he also announced that he will join CBS Sports as one of its Sunday pregame show analysts. Having just recently played in the league allows him to share insightful information that viewers will likely find interesting.

Meanwhile, Mahomes will reportedly be ready by Week 1 after undergoing surgery for the torn ACL he sustained in December. He aims to lead the Chiefs back to the playoffs and regain lost glory next season. Kansas City went 6-11 last year and was eliminated from postseason contention in Week 16.
