Lakers fans might not fully agree with Myles Garrett’s LeBron James stance

Los Angeles Rams’ newest defensive star, Myles Garrett, recently chimed in on LeBron James with the Los Angeles Lakers, as the latter’s NBA future is up in the air this offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

Garrett said he hopes James will remain with the Lakers for years to come since he believes the King can still play at a high level in his early 40s.

“We’ll see how long LBJ is around here. I’m not sure what his future looks like, but if he wants to stay around for a couple more years, I know (L.A. sports fans) will accept him with open arms, but there’s only so long he can play,” Garrett said during his introductory press conference via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

There have been reports that the Lakers will prioritize Austin Reaves over LeBron James in certain contract scenarios. General manager Rob Pelinka and head coach JJ Redick have both expressed their desire to keep the 41-year-old forward in their ranks, but it’ll be easier said than done.

Myles Garrett’s LeBron James stance sparks mixed reactions among Lakers fans

While Myles Garrett meant well on his LeBron James take, several Los Angeles Lakers supporters do not necessarily agree with the NFL star. They believe that the Purple and Gold should move on from James, citing his steady decline.

“Tf is Myles Garrett talking on behalf of a city he ain’t even part of or knows lol. I think he still thinks he’s still in Cleveland. Cuz we def over bron & ready for him to leave lol,” a fan wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“Yea tell him to stick to Football,” a critic added.

Another commenter said, “Because greatness can’t be faked. Glad Lebozos LA tenure is over.”

A fourth poster shared, “this is why I will always say LeBron going to LA was the stupidest move he’s ever made.. could’ve went to a much better team with fans that appreciated you instead you waste your best years in LA playing for a city that never accepted you.”

James will need to take a pay cut if he plans to stay in Los Angeles, but his camp will want some clear answers on how his sacrifice would actually be worth it, as he’s still pursuing his fifth NBA championship.
