The summer window is heating up, and the Chelsea news around Nicolas Jackson is one of the biggest stories right now. The Senegal striker is back at Stamford Bridge after his Bayern Munich loan. His next move is far from settled.
Nicolas Jackson is ready to fight for his place under Alonso
As reported by TEAMtalk, Nicolas Jackson wants to stay and fight for his spot under new head coach Xabi Alonso. He will do so if given a real chance to compete. That is a big shift from what most people expected just weeks ago. Back then, a sale looked almost certain.
He joined Bayern Munich on loan for the 2025-26 campaign. He played mostly as a backup to Harry Kane. His numbers are decent, given how limited his starts were. Bayern’s coaches were pleased with what they saw from him. But the German club chose not to trigger their €65 million buy option. Their sporting director made clear the price was the issue, not the player’s form or ability.

UCL 10 3 3 2
So the Senegal striker returns to the West London club with no clear plan. But he also returns with his confidence intact. The challenge is clear, though. Joao Pedro made a strong case for himself as first choice during Jackson’s absence. Displacing him will not be easy and that is the real test ahead.
Newcastle circle as the transfer picture grows complicated
As reported by TEAMtalk, Newcastle United have been watching Nicolas Jackson closely. The Magpies like his pace, his movement, and his ability to play across the front line. They need a striker, too. New signings Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa also failed to deliver. The club is still hunting for the right answer up front.
Newcastle’s interest adds real weight to this story. Chelsea had planned to sell this summer. But that now depends on what Alonso wants. As reported by Goal.com, the new head coach is set to officially begin work on July 1. His current plan is to assess the striker in pre-season before making any call on his future. Until he does that, nothing is final.
Some reports have cast doubt on how deep Newcastle’s interest really is. But TEAMtalk’s sources say the interest is real and active. In football, things can flip very fast.
What happens next for Nicolas Jackson?
Chelsea values Nicolas Jackson at around £56 million. They are not looking to sell on the cheap. As per Transfermarkt, He still has 7 years left on his contract, which gives the Premier League club strong leverage in any talks.
As reported by Sports Mole, Jackson’s clear priority is to be a regular starter in 2026-27. He would welcome the chance to prove himself again under Alonso. But he also wants real assurances, not just a token run-out in pre-season. If those assurances don’t come, a move could follow quickly.
Before any of that, though, Jackson heads to the FIFA World Cup with Senegal. The tournament begins on June 11, which means Alonso will assess him remotely before pre-season even starts.
It is worth remembering why he left in the first place. Former boss Enzo Maresca pushed him down the pecking order. That led to the Bayern loan. Now Maresca is gone. The door at Stamford Bridge is open again, at least for now.
Bayern have also not fully walked away. They could return if Chelsea lowers their asking price later in the window. Newcastle, meanwhile, are ready to test the market. For Jackson, this summer is about more than just his next club.
