Liverpool’s latest pursuit comes against a remarkable backdrop at Leicester City, where the Foxes have endured a dramatic fall from grace over the past two seasons.
A decade on from that fairytale Premier League title in 2016, Leicester have suffered back‑to‑back relegations, tumbling first from the Premier League to the Championship and then down again into League One, the third tier of English football.
For a club that was playing European football and lifting cups not so long ago, it has been a fall from grace none could have expected.
It has inevitably put a harsh spotlight on their squad, academy and long‑term planning. When a club is in freefall like this, its best young talents naturally become prime targets for elite sides looking to pounce.
And amid interest in yet another teenager in the form of Celtic’s Dara Jikiemi , Liverpool are now moving for one of Leicester’s most highly regarded prospects, Darren Motsi.
The Secret Scout on X has reported:
“Liverpool aim to sign highly talented 15-Year-Old Darren Motsi from Leicester City The midfielder who has represented England has been watched by numerous clubs. TSS understands Man City have had internal discussions whether to enter the race or focus on other targets.”
So who is Darren Motsi, and why are Liverpool pushing so hard?

The 15‑year‑old is a Zimbabwean‑born midfielder who has chosen to represent England at youth level, recently earning a call‑up to the England under‑16 squad for fixtures against the USA, Argentina and Mexico. Despite his age, Motsi has already played for Leicester’s under‑21s and featured for the under‑18s, competing against players three or four years older.
He has also trained with the Leicester City first team on occasion.
Described as a versatile operator who can sit deeper, play as a central midfielder or push into an advanced role, he is lauded for his passing range, vision, close control in tight spaces and intelligent movement between the lines, with a powerful left foot adding threat from distance.
