Andy Robertson sends first message to Tottenham fans after completing free transfer

Andy Robertson has now sent his first message to Tottenham supporters after finally completing his move to north London.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Andy Robertson as they continue their squad rebuild ahead of the new campaign.

The former Liverpool defender joins as a free agent after running down his contract at Anfield, with Spurs securing the Scotland international on a free transfer.

Tottenham were keen to sign the 32-year-old back in January and were willing to pay a modest fee, but the move fell through as Liverpool did not have sufficient depth at left-back.

Robertson later confirmed Spurs’ interest and, six months on, the move has finally been completed.

Tottenham fans receive first Andy Robertson message

Following confirmation of his move by Tottenham, Robertson – who is currently preparing for the World Cup with Scotland in America – sent a message directly to Spurs supporters.

Speaking on Spurs’ official social media pages, Robertson shared his excitement about joining the club and playing in front of the Tottenham faithful for the first time.

“Hi Tottenham fans, it is Andy Robertson here. As you can see, I am not in Glasgow, I am in America just now preparing for the World Cup, but I just wanted to send you a quick message to say I cannot wait to play for you guys.

“I cannot wait to meet you guys, I cannot wait to play in the stadium for the first time in front of you and I am already looking forward to next season.

“All the best, I will see you soon!”

Andy Robertson gives Spurs valuable experience

Robertson is not a blockbuster signing, but he does bring something Tottenham currently lack within the squad.

Spurs do not have enough leaders in their ranks, and, merely looking at the squad, there are not many players with the know-how to manage consecutive top-four finishes, with much of the current group having achieved a top-five finish only once under Ange Postecoglou.

Andy Robertson has not finished lower than fifth in the last nine seasons

Robertson, on the other hand, has not finished lower than fifth position in the last nine seasons. He is also a Premier League, Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, FA Cup and EFL Cup winner. Such is the wealth of experience he has at the very top.

Robertson brings experience and composure that could prove crucial if Spurs are to compete with the very best again. He also offers stronger competition to Destiny Udogie as a natural left-back, while Djed Spence could now move across to the right to compete with Pedro Porro.
