Maxx Crosby’s comments on Raiders future should be looked at as bad news for Chicago Bears

With the Chicago Bears' obvious need for an edge rusher, there's been a lot of hope that they could get in the mix for somebody like Maxx Crosby.

Crosby, who has done nothing but prove throughout his career that he's one of the greatest defensive players the NFL has ever seen, was traded to the Baltimore Ravens in the offseason, but the deal was rescinded due to medical concerns on the Ravens' side.

As of right now, there seems to be a feeling that he's going to stay with the Las Vegas Raiders until at least the deadline. It remains uncertain how Crosby feels about that, though everything he's said so far suggests that he's content with staying with the Raiders.

Las Vegas is looking to be a better team this year, but with the moves it made during the offseason and the spending it did, there's also a sense that the Raiders could look to move on from Crosby again to shed his salary.

The Bears are expected to be interested if that's the case, but his recent comments suggest he isn't looking to get traded, and that's far from ideal for a Chicago team that needs all the help it can get on the defensive side of the football.

“I’m not into making predictions, getting too high or too low,” Crosby said, H/T Heavy. “I’ve been there before in the past, and I’m always gonna be overly optimistic. If you don’t believe, you have no chance. So for me, coming into every single season, I believe. We play this game to win.

“We don’t go here to rebuild or have a chance or get a little bit better. Obviously, we have a lot of work to do, and we do have to get a lot better. And there are a lot of things that need to go in our favor. But ultimately, I’m always gonna be very optimistic, and I try to feed that to my teammates.”

To hear that he doesn't want to rebuild again could be viewed as somewhat of a positive for the Bears, as they're looking to win games at a very high level and are expected to do so.

However, if there's a sense around the Raiders right now that they're going to win more games, and it's not crazy to think that's the case, it's very possible that he eventually never gets traded, and that would be unfortunate for Chicago to live with.
