Browns’ Jared Verse makes Myles Garrett comment that shows he isn’t the same competitor Cleveland legend is

The Cleveland Browns' decision to move on from Myles Garrett might not have been the right one, but only time will tell regarding how bad that move might have been. Getting three draft picks, including a first, second, and third-round pick, as well as Jared Verse, isn't a horrible package.

The headliner in that trade was probably Verse, who many consider one of the better young defensive players in the NFL.

Unfortunately for Verse, he's going to have ridiculous expectations placed on him now, since even being half of what Garrett has been throughout his career is literally impossible.

Unless Verse turns into one of the greatest defensive players of all time, if not the greatest, he's probably not going to be as talented or have the type of career that Garrett had. I don't even want to say that's his fault, but I'm upset to even hear him say that he's not here to at least fill in his shoes.

I hate that he isn't at least attempting to do so, though his comments are relatively fair, considering he still thinks he's just trying to be the best version of himself, not Garrett.

“I’m not here to fill [Myles Garrett’s] shoes. I’m here to bring my own … I’m here to be the best version of me. And the best version of me is gonna be the best defensive player in the league,” he said, per Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.

This doesn't mean Verse doesn't think he can be as good as Garrett, or that he doesn't have that confidence, but it's also a reminder that he's simply not the type of guy Cleveland is used to seeing come off the edge when Garrett was on the roster.
