Roberto Di Zerbi has confessed his long standing love of Scottish players after signing Andy Robertson.
The Scotland skipper has joined Tottenham after leaving Liverpool on a free this summer, sealing the deal on the eve of Robertson playing in his country's final World Cup warm up match against Bolivia.
Di Zerbi only took over at Spurs towards the end of the season, tasked with keeping them in the English Premier League.
He managed that and has now set about putting his own stamp on a squad that's massively underperformed over the last two seasons.
And Robertson becoming his first addition is no coincidence, with the Italian admitting that Scottish players possess all the qualities he loves as a coach.
"I'm excited because he is a Scottish player, first of all, and I love Scottish players," he gushed.
"I worked with Billy Gilmour in Brighton. I love their mentality, their passion in football.
"Andy is someone I've admired for a number of years and he will bring outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our team.

"He is a proven winner at the highest level over a long period and is someone who can be a big player for us, both on and off the pitch. I can't wait to start working with him and seeing the positive impact he will have on everyone around him.
Robertson is currently in the United States preparing to lead Scotland out at a World Cup for the first time in 28 years.
But he still had time to send a message to his new fanbase.
"Hi Tottenham fans, it's me, Andy Robertson here," he said.
"As you can see, I'm not in Glasgow, I'm in America just now preparing for the World Cup.
"But I just wanted to send you a quick message to say I cannot wait to play for you guys, I cannot wait to meet you guys, I cannot wait to play in the stadium for the first time in front of you and I'm already looking forward to playing in front of you.
