Seattle, Washington -The worlds of football and boxing came together this Thursday as the Seattle Seahawks opened their doors to the World Boxing Council (WBC) and undefeated, three-division world champion David Benavidez, who visited the team’s training facility on behalf of the WBC.
The Seattle native enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience, watching the Seahawks practice from the sidelines and witnessing firsthand the preparation and dedication that have helped establish Seattle as the reigning Super Bowl champions and one of the premier franchises in the NFL.
Following practice, Benavidez met with Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, linebacker Derick Hall, and head coach Mike Macdonald, sharing insights into championship preparation, perseverance, and the mindset required to compete at the highest level of sports.
Benavidez also taught Hall how to shadowbox, while the Seahawks linebacker offered some insights into the football world in return.
“It’s just so cool to have two champions from different sports. It’s a way different experience to shadowbox with him. His mindset is just like ours—we both chase greatness,” said Hall. “It was a special moment, and I’m grateful.”
As a symbol of respect between two championship organizations, Benavidez presented the Seahawks with a custom-made WBC championship belt featuring imagery celebrating the team’s iconic Super Bowl LX victory. The special belt commemorated the crossover between one of boxing’s most prestigious governing bodies and one of the NFL’s most successful franchises.
In return, the Seahawks welcomed Benavidez into their family by presenting him with a custom Seahawks jersey bearing his last name and the number 12, a tribute to Seattle’s legendary “12s” fan base.
“It’s an honor to have him here. The fact that David is a ’12’ like all of our fans is so cool. I have a lot of respect for him; he’s a first-class fighter in every weight class,” said Macdonald, who chatted with Benavidez after practice. “I love the fact that he has a clear vision of what kind of fighter and person he wants to be. We share that philosophy with him as a team.”
“This was a tremendous opportunity to bring together two great sporting traditions and celebrate the values that unite all champions—discipline, hard work, dedication, and excellence,” said WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán. “We are grateful to the Seattle Seahawks organization for their hospitality and for welcoming David and the WBC to their home.”
The visit highlighted the growing connection between athletes across different disciplines and served as a true celebration of excellence, teamwork, and championship spirit.
