**[Manchester City](https://sportwitness.co.uk/manchester-city/) star Rodri has insisted winning things with Spain is a more special experience than with his club.**
[AS report on an interview](https://as.com/futbol/seleccion/rodri-ganar-con-tu-pais-es-mas-especial-que-con-tu-club-f202606-n/) with the midfielder today after he appeared on DAZN’s Revelado programme. That saw the 29-year-old looking over his career.
**Spain success**
-----------------
The Spanish midfielder has enjoyed a trophy-laden career to date, winning 19 major club and international trophies to date.
His honours include a UEFA Champions League title, four Premier League crowns and a UEFA European Championship title with Spain. He’s also won the UEFA Nations League with his country and was UEFA Euro player of the tournament in 2024.
He’s now eyeing World Cup glory with Spain this summer and insists winning things with Luis de la Fuente’s side is more special than at Manchester City.
“The most beautiful moment of my career. Achieving your dreams with your country is more special than with your club,” he said regarding a photo of him with the European Championship trophy.
“It’s amazing how the tournament unfolded, how the team won it. We weren’t the favourites, and what we did… It capped off a special, unique year. Maybe we weren’t considered contenders, and that made us stronger.
“That confidence is something you carry within you. We knew we were the best, but we had to prove it. And that’s what we did. That European Championship speaks volumes about the ambition of the national team. The rivals we beat. We won convincingly; we won every match in the tournament. It speaks volumes about the which was for us.”
**Manchester City trophy haul**
-------------------------------
That doesn’t mean Rodri is completely disregarding his success at the Etihad. That would be difficult given his haul of 11 major trophies with Manchester City, including four Premier League titles.
The last of those, was won via his own strike and he admits that was a special moment in a big year for him.
“Possibly the most complete year I ever had,” he added.
“In terms of goals, I was in incredible physical condition. I helped the team win their fourth consecutive title. It was an extremely tough, complicated year. Like every year when you’re aiming for everything. Capping it off with that goal was special.”
The club’s first Champions League success in 2023 is also difficult to ignore, but he has different memories from that success to everyone else.
“A very special day because of what the Champions League meant for the club, what that iconic goal meant to me personally, but what I remember most is the team,” he concluded.
“Our ability to overcome previous years, to not win a title that I think we deserved, but which had eluded us. I remember talking to Pep at that moment about how hard it had been. Moments of pure joy.”
