“The Clear Centerpiece”: Former Los Angeles Rams Stud DT Aaron Donald Headlines Top Rams…

Aaron Donald played for the Los Angeles Rams from 2014-2023. He won a Super Bowl for Los Angeles during the 2021 NFL season. Donald was one of the best defensive tackles the NFL has ever seen.

Former Pittsburgh Panther and retired NFL defensive tackle Aaron Donald speaks to the crowd during his jersey number retirement ceremony during halftime of the Pittsburgh Panthers vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish game at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA on November 15, 2025.

He won a couple of defensive player of the year awards in the NFL. Other teams in the NFL were double and triple teaming him week in and week out. With the Rams recently trading for Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns, Donald was flirting with the idea about coming out of retirement to play. However, Donald is probably not going to do that. He has been out of the league for three seasons now and it would probably be hard for him to play in the NFL again even though Donald works out frequently.

Former Los Angeles Rams Stud DT Aaron Donald Headlines Top Rams Defensive Players On PFF Over the Last 20 Seasons

The Rams defense was anchored big time by Donald during his time with this organization. Other opposing teams had to figure out ways to slow him down week in and week out. Nathan Jahnke of profootballfocus.com named Donald to the all Rams defensive team over the last 20 years. Along with Donald on the defensive line, Kobie Turner was the other defensive tackle. Robert Quinn and William Hayes were the top edge rushers this franchise has also had over the last 20 seasons.

Jahnke said about Donald headlining this Rams defense,

“Aaron Donald was the easiest selection on this roster and the clear centerpiece of the defense.”

As long as Donald stays retired, he is going to wind up as a first ballot hall of famer in Canton, Ohio, in a couple of years from now. Donald was one of the best defensive tackles this sport has ever seen. Also, no one is probably ever going to wear the number 99 ever again for this Rams franchise here.
