Bayern Munich is interested in signing future Liverpool star Rio Ngumoha, but has been shut down by the club, which insists he's not for sale.

That's according to The Athletic, which claims that Bayern is once again heavily interested in a Liverpool winger after already signing Luis Diaz last summer. Liverpool has already said farewell to Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate this summer, but Ngumoha is seen as a future superstar.

Ngumoha's performances were among the few positives for Liverpool last season, and former head coach Arne Slot was even booed when he substituted him against Chelsea. Liverpool is aware of the interest, and no contact has been made between the clubs, but the club wants to strengthen its attack rather than lose depth.

There have been many negotiations between Liverpool and Bayern in recent years. Liverpool signed Thiago Alcantara and Ryan Gravenberch from the Bundesliga club, while Bayern has signed Diaz and Sadio Mane in return.

Liverpool has also been heavily linked to Michael Olise, but were brutally shut down by Bayern executive Uli Hoeness ahead of potential negotiations. The Olise links were active before Salah announced he would be leaving the club, and intensified after his departure was confirmed.

In an interview with DPA, Hoeness made it clear that if Liverpool attempted to sign Olise, the club would face rejection. "Remember Liverpool spent €500m last summer and is having a very bad season," he said.

"So we won’t be contributing to them playing better next year." Bayern's director of sport, Max Eberl, also shut down a future Olise departure during an interview with Sport Bild. "We’re not even wasting a thought on that," Eberl said.

"He is a Bayern Munich player and has every opportunity here that top players could wish for. We want to shape the future with him."
