Things aren’t going well for Cole Palmer. The English winger is forced to sit out from the World Cup. Now rumors are emerging about his potential exit from Chelsea.
Rumors of Cole Palmer’s Chelsea exit grow stronger
Palmer initially denied possibilities of a transfer. However, nothing remained the same after the World Cup snub. Palmer was dropped from the English World Cup squad announced on May 22, as per FIFA website. He was dropped by head coach Thomas Tuchel alongside stalwarts like Harry Maguire, Phil Foden, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Since then, rumours of his exit from The Blues are growing stronger.
As per Express, the winger has a release clause of around £80 million. Clubs like Manchester United & Manchester City are competing to acquire the winger. Palmer previously represented Manchester City. The winger played for the club youth academy from 2010 to 2020. He subsequently joined the senior team. Palmer played for the Sky Blues between 2020 and 2023. He later joined Chelsea in September 2023. Since then, he has become a vital cog in the team’s attacking lineup.

In the 2025-26 season, the West London club had a roller-coaster ride. The Blues faced an early exit in the Champions League. They also lost the semifinals of the EFL Cup. For the Premier League, the less said, the better. Chelsea finished in the 10th position in the Premier League this season.

They steamrolled Paris Saint-Germain by 3-0 in the finals.
Palmer had a great 2025-26 season. His performance wasn’t up to the expectations. However, the winger played a crucial role in the 2025 Club World Cup victory for Chelsea. The English winger also got the Golden Ball for his performance, as per ESPN.
