Report: Three Liverpool attacking transfer targets would cost£100m+ each

Liverpool have three transfer targets that cost £100m or more, but there are financial constraints that will prohibit them from spending as much as the summer of 2025.

After winning the Premier League last season, FSG sanctioned a £460m summer transfer window which saw Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mamardashvili join the club.

Liverpool, under Arne Slot, delivered a very poor return on investment this season, which may cause the owners to rethink ever spending that much again, even if they sold a considerable number of players to do so, including Luis Diaz for a reported £65m.

Now, with Liverpool hiring Andoni Iraola as Slot’s replacement, there is a lot of work to do on a squad that is gifted but limited in its key profiles.

The three players Liverpool want that will cost £100m+ each

According to a report from iNews journalist Mark Douglas, Liverpool are very interested in three players, including Bournemouth stars Eli Junior Kroupi and Rayan, as well as RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande.

Their prices, as per the report, are:

Kroupi (“well in excess” of £100m)

Rayan (he has a release clause of £130m)

Diomande (RB Leipzig want £120m)

Diomande has been heavily linked with a move to sign Diomande for several months now, with Douglas’ claim of a £120m price tag the highest we’ve seen quoted by journalists. It seems, with each passing week, that the reported price to sign Diomande increases. Just a few months ago, claims were going around that Leipzig would sell him for €100m (£86m).

To hear claims now of £120m (€138m) suggests that Leipzig are doing their very best to keep him. The German club wants Diomande to sign a new deal with improved terms, with the compromise of inserting an achievable release clause.

Liverpool have several transfer problems but cannot waste their resources on signing Diomande

If Douglas is correct and it will cost in the region of £120m to sign Diomande, it’s time to walk away. It’s clear that the 19-year-old is set to become one of the very best attackers in the world, but after just one season of elite senior football, it would be a major risk.

Considering Liverpool spent £125m to sign Alexander Isak, to spend similar money on Diomande would be negligent. For comparison, Ekitike had better numbers than Diomande and was signed for just £79m.
