According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, the individual is not permitted to sit in courtside seats during the Finals. The fan is also not a season ticket holder.
The incident drew attention after reports surfaced that courtside spectators directed vulgar and profane comments toward Brunson late in the game. NBA insider Chris Haynes previously reported that the league was reviewing the situation.
Brunson addressed the issue during the game, speaking with referee Scott Foster about the behavior from the stands. However, the remarks reportedly continued even after the complaint was made.
The NBA has since reviewed the incident and moved to prevent the fan from returning to a courtside seat during the championship series.
Despite the distraction, Brunson delivered another standout performance for the New York Knicks. The All-Star guard finished with 30 points and took over in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 points as New York secured a 105-95 victory.
The win gave the Knicks a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals as they continue their pursuit of the franchise's first championship in decades.
