It's been a roaring start to the month of June in NFL news, as a flurry of moves has changed the complexion of the rosters not only of the Philadelphia Eagles but also of key rivals.
The soap opera-esque A.J. Brown situation finally culminated in atrade with the Patriots, while the New York Giants also made a splash move out wide, reuniting with a familiar foe of the Eagles.
Meanwhile, another move has big ramifications for Philadelphia in different ways. With the news that superstar Myles Garrett is now an LA Ram, the Eagles must now contend with the record-shattering defensive lineman in Week 4 of next season and beyond.
The return for Cleveland nets the young Browns team an array of picks along with Jared Verse, a star in his own right, and someone who has endeared himself quite emphatically to the Philly faithful these past two years.
Birds fans are well-versed on Jared Verse
The Rams and Eagles have absolutely battled in recent matchups, with Philadelphia pushed to the brink each time by the dangerous visitors from the West.
And leading the charge for the Rams in big spots - both physically and verbally - was Verse.
"I hate the Eagles," Verse exclaimed to theLos Angeles Timesprior to last season's playoff tilt in Philadelphia, a 28-22 Eagles' victory. "When I see that green and white I hate it,” he said. “I actually get upset. Like I actually genuinely get hot.”
Of course, the Philly faithful will also recall that massive strip sack he had on Jalen Hurts, as well as the time he circled the field shirtless in the bitter cold, jawing with the masses prior to suiting up. Words were exchanged, snowballs were launched, and Christmas party invites were most likely not discussed.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Verse eventually moved east and played at Central Columbia High School in Bloomsburg, PA. You could just sense the showdowns in Philadelphia left the pass rusher extra amped any time he stepped foot in the Linc.
Verse did walk back his words a bit, but he always brought plenty of energy, adding an additional layer of intrigue to the matchups between the Rams and Eagles.
“I just want to move on from it,” Verse would later explain. “What was said was said. That was the past."
Now the budding star pass rusher is indeed moving on, headed to Cleveland, while Garrett is LA-bound and ready to battle the Eagles in Week 4 next season. As the reigning defensive player of the year, Garrett will add a new element of excitement to a flourishing rivalry between two NFC heavyweights.
