NFL Star Arrested On Shocking Charges

According to jail records provided by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Denver Broncos pass rusher Jonathon Cooper was arrested Thursday evening in Colorado on domestic violence and criminal mischief charges.

A Parker Police Department officer arrested Cooper at 11:16 pm local time and booked him into the Douglas County jail at 2:38 am. Cooper appeared in court on Friday morning. There is no information as to what led to Cooper’s arrest. His next scheduled court date is Monday at 10 am.

According to The Associated Press, the Broncos are aware of the issue and are gathering more details.

Cooper, who was drafted seventh out of Ohio State in 2021, has turned into one of Denver’s best edge rushers. As a member of the Broncos defense, Cooper is partnered with Pro Bowler Nik Bonitto and 2024 Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Surtain II. Cooper headlines a defense that ranked among the top three in terms of points and yards allowed last season. In addition to 16 quarterback hits, the linebacker recorded eight sacks in 2025, second only to Bonitto.

The 28-year-old Cooper signed a four-year, $54 million extension with Denver in 2024 and is under contract until 2028.

Denver completed its first week of voluntary organized team activities on Thursday. The Broncos will resume OTAs on June 9 followed by mandatory minicamp on June 16.
