Thiago Silva to return to Stamford Bridge in a new role?
As per TEAMTALK, Silva has received an offer from The Blues. However, there is a twist. The centre-back may join the Stamford Bridge club as a mentor. If he continues to play, there are also rumours that he may return to AC Milan. The Italian club has offered a one-year deal.
The veteran defender left Porto after playing just 12 games this year. He joined the club in early 2026. Silva replaced Pepe as the oldest player to ever represent Porto. Interestingly, Silva played for Porto B in the year 2004. He played for the club between 2004 and 2005.
Silva previously played for the Fluminense club. He played for the team between 2024 and 2025. Before Fluminense, Silva represented Chelsea for four years. He also played for Paris Saint-Germain club, as well as AC Milan.

It will be brilliant if Silva confirms his return to Chelsea. The centre-back joined the West London club in 2020. He played for the club till 2024. He was a part of the Blues squad that won the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League. Silva also contributed in the 2021 Club World Cup victory for the Stamford Bridge club. This was the first time The Blues had won the prestigious title.
The senior defender was a also a part of the team that reached the finals of the FA Cup in 2021 and 2022 respectively. His best performance at the Premier League came in the 2021-22 season. The Blues finished third with a total of 74 points. Interestingly, the team manager at that time was Thomas Tuchel. He is now managing the English team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
How can Silva change Chelsea’s fortunes next season
If Silva confirms his entry, he has a huge task at hand. Chelsea team need to get back to winning ways, and they need to improve their defensive lineup. It is here that Silva’s experience comes in handy. The veteran defender has also contributed to The Blues as a player. He knows how to handle the pressure in crucial situations.
The Blues have had a roller-coaster ride this football season. They finished on the 10th position in the 2025-26 Premier League season. The West London club also suffered early exits in the UEFA Champions League.
However, the West London club also had a good time at the FA Cup. They narrowly lost to Manchester City in the finals by 1-0. The finals were held at the Wembley Stadium. Chelsea made it to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup. They lost by a margin of 3-2 to Arsenal.
The best performance of Chelsea came at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The Stamford Bridge club progressed to the finals for the first time since the 2021 edition. They also avenged their Champions League loss. The Blues defeated Paris Saint-Germain by a convincing margin of 3-0 in the finals to win the Club World Cup. It would be interesting to see if Silva agrees to the offer and join the club at Stamford Bridge soon.
