The San Antonio Spurs have been enjoying a magical run this year en route to a special NBA Finals appearance, and Gregg Popovich can only wish that he were there for the team's entire journey.

Antonio Daniels revealed on Rich Paul and Max Kellerman's Game Over podcast that the Spurs legendary figure openly acknowledged how much he misses coaching the game.
“We watched [Game 1] in Pops' suite with him. I asked him, ‘Do you miss it?’ And he said, ‘You have no idea how much. I wish I was down there right now,’" the former Spurs guard shared.
Popovich notably stepped down as the Spurs' head coach last year, leaving the sidelines after 29 years and becoming the league's winningest head coach.
The decision came after he suffered a mild stroke last NBA season, forcing him to miss the final 77 games of the 2024-25 campaign.
While he is no longer coaching, Popovich remains the top presence around the Spurs. He retained his team president position and has always been involved with the team in terms of providing feedback and game adjustments.
After leading the Spurs to five NBA titles and to one of the game's greatest dynasties, Popovich certainly has no worries about the franchise's future with head coach Mitch Johnson and superstar Victor Wembanyama leading the way.
