Meet the Wife of Spurs Coach Mitch Johnson

Estimated read time2 min read

Mitch Johnson did not plan on becoming the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs. When Gregg Popovich suffered a stroke five games into the 2024-25 season, Johnson, 38, stepped in as interim head coach with just a few hours notice before tip-off. He went on to lead the team for 77 games, and on May 2, 2025, the Spurs made it official, naming him the 19th head coach in franchise history.

After his first full season at the helm, he guided San Antonio to the NBA Finals behind French phenom Victor Wembanyama in 2026, the team’s first trip back to the championship round since 2014. His wife, Jessica, has been alongside him for the ride. Below, get to know a little more about Jessica.

She keeps a low profile.

Jessica appears to steer clear of WAG culture. She is not a fixture in court-side photos, although she does have a TikTok account that has been updated more frequently leading up to the 2026 NBA Finals.

Still, even though her husband has been head coach for just one season, Jessica has largely stayed out of the public eye that comes with being married to one of the NBA’s top leaders.

Mitch and Jessica are busy parents.

The couple have four young children together: Tasia, Tatum, Johnnie, and Jameson. Their ages have not been published publicly.

Jessica shared a video of their kids welcoming their father and the team home after the Spurs won the 2026 Western Conference Championship.

They are also pet parents.

Jessica has shared a few TikTok videos of the family dog, which appears to be either a as a Schnoodle (Schnauzer and Poodle mix) or a Havanese.

The couple are advocates for pediatric patients in San Antonio.

In June 2025, Mitch and Jessica visited patients at Methodist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio, where they helped children craft calming jars, a project designed to promote relaxation and emotional well-being during treatment. They also participated in a music therapy session, made individual room visits in the pediatric oncology unit, where patients are often unable to leave due to being immunocompromised, and spent quality time with the facility’s therapy dogs—Chanel, Fresca, and Lady—who provide comfort to patients throughout the building.

“It was an incredible experience to connect with these brave kids,” Johnson said in a statement released by the hospital. “Their strength and resilience inspire me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring a little joy to their day.”
