The Andoni Iraola era is underway at Liverpool, and there will be plenty of work to do over the next few months as the club looks to fix the problems of the 2025/26 season.
Iraola was officially confirmed as Arne Slot’s replacement on Thursday, and having been reunited with sporting director Richard Hughes, the pair will now be looking at what business they need to do this summer.
A new winger looks to be the immediate priority, with the pursuit of Yan Diomande stepping up this week. He’s not the only forward the Reds are eyeing up though, and Iraola’s arrival has reportedly increased the possibility of another option.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig)
Yan Diomande wants his future to be resolved before the start of the World Cup, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Liverpool is reportedly leading the race to sign the 19-year-old after making contact with RB Leipzig, although the Bundesliga side wants to keep him, and will try to tie him down to an improved contract.
Romano also claims that Liverpool has offered the best salary to Diomande so far, with Paris Saint-Germain also working on a deal. The Ivory Coast international seemingly wants a quick resolution though.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
Liverpool.com says: That doesn't give Liverpool much time to get a deal done, especially when there's another big club interested, and his current team is playing hardball.
Having said that, even if a deal isn't over the line before the start of the World Cup, that surely won't be the end of the matter. If Leipzig hasn't managed to get Diomande to sign a new deal by then, you can't imagine Liverpool or PSG would just give up the chase.
Rayan (Bournemouth)
Andoni Iraola’s appointment has opened the door for Liverpool to make a move for Bournemouth’s Rayan, according to The i Paper.
The Reds’ new boss is said to be a “huge fan” of the Brazil international, who has earned plaudits after scoring five goals in 15 appearances since joining the Cherries in the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old is claimed to have already been on Liverpool’s radar, with Iraola’s appointment potentially “likely” to have firmed up the club’s interest. A move is not expected until at least January though, when a $174 million (£130M) release clause becomes available, and lowers in value in each subsequent window.
Liverpool.com says: That is a lot of money for a 19-year-old with just half a season in the Premier League under his belt. Granted, it will be more than that come January, but but that is still a staggering amount, even if Rayan goes on to have a storming start to next season.

He's a player to keep an eye on, but Liverpool need new wingers this summer, and it can't gamble on the prospect Rayan being available further down the line.
