Dylan Harper sends strong message to Spurs after Game 2 NBA Finals collapse

Dylan Harper is compelled enough to continue rolling with the Spurs despite the rough first two games of the Finals series on their home court.

The San Antonio Spurs are in a problematic spot to start the 2026 NBA Finals, losing Games 1 and 2 right in front of their home crowd against the New York Knicks.

Yet despite the challenging task of getting themselves back on track as the championship series shifts to New York, Dylan Harper is not losing any hope for his team to bounce back moving forward.

“I think the biggest thing for us is just staying together, not putting our heads down. We just have to focus on the next game," Harper told reporters after the Spurs' 105-104 huge loss on Friday.

"It's not the first to win two. We can’t really hang our heads on that."

The Spurs are on the verge of a brutal end to their title chase, as no team in NBA history has won the championship despite losing the first two games of the series at home.

Both the 1992-92 Phoenix Suns and the 1994-95 Orlando Magic endured similar unfortunate fates in these occurrences.

As such, Harper believes what matters most for him and the Spurs is right in front of them, as they aim to steal at least one of the next two games in New York.

"We just have to come out with a mentality of just being more desperate,” Harper said, who serves as the Spurs' spark plug off the bench with 15.5 points and seven rebounds average so far in two games of the Finals.

Games 3 and 4 of the Finals will be held on Monday and Wednesday, respectively, at Madison Square Garden, and it remains to be seen whether Harper and the Spurs can send the series back to San Antonio.
