Donald Trump mentions two names when asked about favorite Knicks player

Donald Trump named Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns when asked about his favorite Knicks player, calling both "fantastic" while praising the entire team.

President Donald Trump, who is set to attend the upcoming NBA Finals game between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden, could not pick just one favorite Knicks player.

When asked by a reporter who his favorite Knicks player is, Trump named two of the team's biggest stars while adding that he loves the entire squad.

"Well, Brunson's fantastic. Towns is fantastic – they just have a great team," Trump said, via C-SPAN.

A New York native, Trump is a well-known Knicks fan and revealed that he was personally invited by franchise owner James Dolan to attend the game.

Trump originally planned to attend a potential Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden, but the series ended in a 4-0 sweep in Cleveland.

The last time a sitting U.S. president attended an NBA game was in 2015, when Barack Obama watched a matchup between the Chicago Bulls and the Cavaliers.

After winning the first two games of the series in San Antonio, the Knicks are now historically close to capturing their first NBA championship since 1973.

The last time New York reached the NBA Finals was in 1999, when the Knicks lost to the Spurs 4-1.

Game 3 in New York will be played on Monday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
