Many Bucs fans have smiled and said the 2026 Bucs offense should hit the ground running with new coordinator Zac Robinson because it’ll look exactly like Liam Coen’s electric 2024 system.

Not quite.

Robinson has his own mind, and his own ideas and concepts. Coen and Robinson are from the Sean McVay coaching tree — and they’re best buddies — but they don’t operate with identical playbooks.

Speaking this week, 10-year Bucs receiver Chris Godwin said Robinson’s offense is 50 percent like Coen’s.

“It might be like 50-50 carryover from Liam’s scheme. Like, you know, at it’s base, it’s the same thing,” Godwin said.

That’s probably not the 70 or 80 percent ratio a lot fans would have guessed as it relates to Robinson and Coen running similar schemes.

Godwin praised Robinson’s ability to teach and the confidence with which he teaches, and “how open he is to collaboration from players.”

Yes, there is another learning curve for the Bucs offense, but that shouldn’t be an issue/excuse. The offense had much more of an adjustment when Coen arrived in 2024 than it does today, and it hummed right away. The Bucs averaged 29.7 points per game through the first six weeks of the ’24 season.
