Arsenal are the only 'realistic' option to secure a deal for Julian Alvarez, but the Atletico Madrid star reportedly has no interest in moving to the Emirates Stadium. Alvarez is said to be focused solely on Barcelona should he depart the Spanish capital.
The Argentina international is not entertaining a switch to London, and the likeliest outcome is that he stays with Atletico next season, according to reports in Spain. Alvarez is not expected to push for a transfer to Camp Nou and Atleti would rather avoid negotiations with the Catalan club following recent developments.
The report suggests that key intermediaries describe any potential deal for Alvarez to join Barcelona as extremely complicated. Any transfer remains at a 'standstill'.
Atletico, meanwhile, are mapping out their future and building their squad, anticipating Alvarez will stay with the club next season. The Madrid outfit made their anger with Barcelona evident last month, publicly criticising their rivals over the speculation surrounding Alvarez.
Despite this, Barcelona seem to maintain some optimism about their prospects of landing Alvarez. The Blaugrana expected Atletico's resistance and intended to allow some breathing space to observe how the situation unfolds.
The La Liga champions have no plans to consider other options unless an unforeseen development occurs in their pursuit of Alvarez. They have turned down an approach for Victor Osimhen, who has also been connected to Atletico.
Arsenal are likewise keen on AFC Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi this summer. The 19-year-old made a strong impression during his maiden campaign in the Premier League.
