'Jones has asked me about Italy - but Alisson is staying at Liverpool'

A summer of change at Liverpool is firmly underway. Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate are leaving on free transfers, while Andy Robertson’s move to Tottenham was confirmed on Friday afternoon.

The biggest change, arguably, is right near the top with Andoni Iraola appointed as the club’s new head coach following the sacking of Arne Slot after a disappointing second season in charge of the Reds.

As Iraola slowly gets his feet under the table, two transfer decisions are looming.

Chiesa, who is planning talks with the Spanish tactician regarding his future, has revealed that Jones has asked him about life in Italy amid links to the current Serie A champions.

“All he (Jones) asked me was what life is like in Italy,” Chiesa said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I told him it’s great and the weather is better than in Liverpool which, other than that, is a special place.

“Jones, technically, is a really good player. Inter do well to think about signing him.”

Chiesa, however, feels that while Jones may leave for Inter, Alisson is likely to remain at Liverpool despite reported interest from Juventus.

“From what I hear, he’s staying in England,” Chiesa added. “Then let’s see.
