Alexis Mac Allister “could be moved on” this summer: Top Liverpool source

**Alexis Mac Allister “could be moved on” this summer, according to the Times‘ Paul Joyce, which could help fund Liverpool’s move for another midfielder.**

Despite speculation over more than one starting midfielder leaving heading into the transfer window, it is maintained that the engine room is not Liverpool’s priority.

The Guardian‘s Andy Hunter is among those to report that the focus as it stands is on adding two new wingers and a right-back.

Beyond that, though, Liverpool could still enter the market for at least one midfielder as well as a centre-back.

While Inter Milan continue to pursue Curtis Jones, the Joyce further reports for the Times that Mac Allister “could be moved on” too.

It adds to the growing speculation over Mac Allister’s future, with the 27-year-old considered one of the players to most struggle last season and the club not entering talks over a new contract.

Who will be part of Liverpool’s midfield next season?

Ryan Gravenberch put pen to paper on a new six-year deal in March and talks are ongoing with **Dominik Szoboszlai**‘s camp, but as it stands there is no extension on the horizon for the No. 10, whose current terms are up in 2028.

Real Madrid have been touted as suitors but there is no indication at this stage that they will make a move for Mac Allister.

Liverpool are already known to hold an interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, while Andoni Iraola‘s appointment has led to links with Bournemouth‘s Alex Scott.

A move is also being explored for Hertha Berlin’s Kennet Eichhorn, but at 16 he would not be considered an immediate starter and cannot officially join until he turns 18 in 2027.

Mac Allister has been a key player for Liverpool since his move from Brighton three years ago, with that deal worth an initial £35 million but reported to reach up to £55 million including bonuses.

Having already made 150 appearances in that time there is a sense that the Argentine has been overplayed and that it has taken a toll on him physically.

Last season saw a concerning drop-off in his mobility and efficiency off the ball, while he appeared at odds with Arne Slot‘s tweaked system.

He still scored five goals and assisted another seven in his 55 games, often from a deeper midfield role, but it appears as though Liverpool would be willing to part ways with Mac Allister to bring in a newer model.

The Big Debate

Should Liverpool sell Alexis Mac Allister this summer?

Mac Allister is being touted for the exit this summer after a decline in his performances. With two years left on his contract and Adam Wharton among the targets, the Argentine could be moved on.
