Bears Announce Name Change Decision After They Relocate To Hammond, Indiana

When an NFL team moves cities, they usually adopt the name of the new city or metro area. With Chicago on the verge of moving to Hammond, Indiana, will they adopt the new city’s name?

It has been reported that the answer is clearly no.

During an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Indiana Governor Mike Braun stated that while he is pleased to welcome the team to his state. He also stated he does not anticipate that the team will change its name. In his opinion, it would be irresponsible to refer to them as anything other than “the Chicago Bears”.

“No, no (we’re not changing the name). That would be obtuse to think it would be the Hammond Bears. It’s the Chicago Bears,” Braun said bluntly.

Fans immediately reacted to the Bears keeping their name:

Indiana is soft. Just bow down to them. Pay for their staduim and your tax payers pay all that and call them Chicago bears. Like a side chick LOL

Nobody calls ’em the New Jersey Jets or the East Rutherford Giants. Chicago Bears will remain THE Chicago Bears

Right or wrong, the lesson is that if your government won’t pay for a new stadium, someone else’s will

This guy has run Indiana into the ground. I don’t even care about his political affiliation at all its just true. Mitch Daniels was a republican and had the state running like a well oiled machine
