Speaking at the post-match press conference following his side's 2-1 win over Chile in a friendly on Saturday evening, Portugal coach Roberto Martínez confirmed that former Barcelona forward Francisco Trincão will be given playing time when his side take on Nigeria in their next fixture.
Portugal defeated the South Americans 2-1, thanks to second half goals from Gonçalo Guedes and Bruno Fernandes, before Lucas Cepeda halved the deficit in stoppage time
A heated exchange between Portugal forward Rafael Leão and Chile centre-back Ivan Roman shortly before the break resulted in both players being sent off, overshadowing the contest.
As a result of the AC Milan forward's dismissal, Trincão was the only outfield player who failed to see any action against Chile.
The Portugal boss has assured that the Sporting CP attacker will be involved against the Super Eagles.
Asked whether players who have seen less action could get more opportunities against Nigeria, Martínez was quoted as saying by A Bola: "I think today's game was very interesting for individual preparation, 10 against 10. There's more space, more duels, physically it was very good for us," Martínez said.
"Trincão was the only player who didn't play because of the red card, but I'm not worried about that, because he'll get minutes against Nigeria. There was a time when he played a lot and it's not a problem.
"We'll analyze it. Cancelo played 90 minutes, Rúben Dias almost, Chico with very good intensity, Pedro Neto too. Félix and Trincão... we can use them in the second game."
Meanwhile, Martínez confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League-winning quartet Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, João Neves and Gonçalo Ramos have all reported for international duty ahead of the friendly versus Nigeria.
