Andoni Iraola is already facing his first test as Liverpool boss just days after he was officially appointed. The Spaniard was appointed earlier this week after the Reds decided to part ways with Arne Slot.
The club's fifth-place finish was a dramatic drop down the table from their league-winning campaign last year with the Reds expected to dip into the transfer market this summer to bolster their quality.
Slot had already begun planning for the window prior to his dismissal with Iraola now taking over duties ahead of his debut campaign in Merseyside. The 43-year-old may only be three days into the job but he has to contend with the latest transfer update regarding one of his players.

The Reds were hit with news that Bayern Munich have made Rio Ngumoha a target this summer following his breakout season at Anfield. The 17-year-old has been identified as the ideal addition to their thriving forward line that includes ex-Liverpool star Luis Diaz, according to The Athletic.
The outlet adds that no contact has been made between the two clubs while Ngumoha is aware of Bayern's interest in him. Some fans may fear the Bundesliga champions attempting to poach one of the brightest talents in Europe but should feel some relief given the youngster's previous comments on Liverpool.
But the player has already made his feelings about Liverpool perfectly clear. After scoring the opener in the Reds' 2-0 win over Fulham in April that made him the club's youngest-ever league goalscorer, he told Sky Sports: "Liverpool, for me, is the biggest club in the world.
"To start so young and the manager having belief in me and all the players, it’s great. So, I’ve got to keep working hard and keep pushing on and just go again." The teenager may be relishing working under Iraola whose fast-paced style of football could well fit Ngumoha to a tee.

Acquiring a winger is one of Liverpool's priorities this summer following the departure of Mohamed Salah. Yan Diomande has been the pre-eminent target for the Reds but they may opt to go in another direction when it comes to replacing the Egyptian icon.
According to reports from Record in Portugal, the Premier League side are "closest" to signing Sporting CP star Francisco Trincao by triggering his £50million release clause this summer. The outlet claims the club need to sell assets before buying. The 26-year-old was on loan at Wolves during the 2021/22 season but managed just two goals in 28 league appearances.
Since joining the Portuguese giants in 2023, after spending the previous season there on loan, he's managed 47 goals and 51 assists in 208 matches and has been included in Portugal's FIFA World Cup 2026 squad this month.
